&Open’s Finance Team care about the numbers and are driven by curiosity. We love uncovering useful insights for strategic data-driven decisions which will fuel our rapidly growing business. From accounting and compliance to forecasting and analysis, we proactively support every team within the business and play a key role in achieving our mission.
About the role

We are looking for an Accountant (maternity cover) to join a dynamic and growing business within the Corporate Gifting industry.

We’re expanding our footprint across the globe and this is a great opportunity to work with passionate, creative and driven individuals in a diverse team and hybrid work environment.

This role will collaborate with all teams across the business and report directly to our CFO. This will be the perfect opportunity for a qualified accountant who is eager to take the next step in their career.

You will be an integral part of the finance team and be responsible for month-end reporting as well as working closely with the Accounts Assistants, Finance Manager, Commercial Finance Manager, and CFO as well as other colleagues. This role is perfect for an out-of-the box thinker who has a passion for data and processes to support business scaling and growth. A strong accounting background, skilled in accounting and financial reporting processes, attention to detail, and timely delivery are essential to success in this role.

What you'll do?

Month-End & Reporting

  • Own the preparation of monthly management accounts, including posting journals, accruals, prepayments, and conducting revenue, gross margin, and cost analysis.

  • Prepare and reconcile the cash flow statement, balance sheet, and P&L with accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.

  • Support year-end audit preparation, liaising directly with auditors and providing all required schedules and documentation.

Financial Operations

  • Review and process sales invoices, purchase orders, and supplier bills.

  • Manage debtor and creditor reconciliations, collections, and payments.

  • Oversee intercompany accounting, reconciliations, and settlements.

Tax & Compliance

  • Prepare and submit VAT/GST returns, VIES, and other statutory filings on time and in full compliance with regulations. Familiarity with US sales tax is desirable.

  • Maintain robust internal financial controls and ensure adherence to accounting standards (IFRS).

Business Support & Process Improvement

  • Support the annual budget and monthly forecast processes.

  • Assist with process improvements and systems enhancements (e.g., ERP implementation).

  • Partner with non-finance teams to provide clear, actionable business insights.

What you'll need
  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CPA qualified, with strong technical accounting experience covering month-end close, reconciliations, VAT returns, and management reporting.

  • Track record of working independently and taking ownership of established processes with minimal supervision.

  • Proficient in Google Workspace (Google Sheets), Microsoft Excel, and ideally cloud-based accounting and ERP systems (e.g., Xero, Sage, Odoo, Dynamics).

  • Solid understanding of VAT, corporate tax, and other statutory requirements.

  • Experience in high-paced, dynamic environments — preference for VC-backed scale-ups or companies undergoing transformation.

  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of translating finance into clear terms for non-finance colleagues.

  • Available to start on 15th October 2025.

Benefits
  • Competitive Salary
  • Hybrid Working Model
  • Company Pension
  • Healthcare cover
  • Exciting experience in a fast-paced start-up environment
