About the team

You’ll report to Mathew, our Head of Product. He’s managed Product and Design teams for years at places like Intercom, Zendesk, and King. He’s passionate about our product and the impact it has, the accomplishment we feel from our craft, and working in an environment where we make progress and grow week by week.

You’ll work very closely with Andrew, a Senior Product Designer with 7 years under his belt at &Open. He brings a depth of experience of the domain and an understanding of our customers that you’ll learn from. 

Juan is our Head of Engineering, and the final part of your trio. He’s built an incredible team of Product Engineers that you’ll work closely with.

You’ll also collaborate across our business with folks in Creative, Buying and Merchandising, Sales, Customer Success, and Support. You’ll have exposure to and often collaborate with our senior leadership team, right up to the CEO.

About the role

Think back to a time when you received a really thoughtful gift. You received something you came to love, wrapped up carefully letting you know a lot of thought went into it. Something that puts a real smile on your face.

Now think about how it felt for the person gifting it to you. They thought long and hard about you, carefully choosing the gift. That pang of excitement thinking about how you’d feel when you received it.

In this role, you’ll be working on a software product that creates that feeling again and again. Great design is in our DNA and we set a high bar for shipping impactful work. Our customers tell us time and time again that the sender and recipient experiences we create set us apart from our competitors, and you’ll help us to elevate that to new levels.

The &Open gifting platform is the home to all of our high quality gifts, custom made or from our marketplace of amazing sellers across the globe. You’ll work on our core product that enables customers like Clay, Etsy, Hubspot, Intercom, Revolut and more to choose and send gifts that create special moments and build relationships that last.

What you'll do?

You’ll work on the &Open platform for senders, our tools for creating custom gifts, the digital experience for recipients, and our integrations with third party tools (eg. CRMs).

• You’ll work in a trio of Design, Product, and Engineering. You’ll advocate for your design perspective, be pragmatic when you need to, always focused on the problems we’re trying to solve.
• Collaborate with the Head of Product on customer research, contributing to how we define the problems we solve.
• Drive solutioning with the team. We encourage you to think big, but start small. Low fidelity design work, leading to higher fidelity designs that people can work with as we gain confidence.
• Support your team while they build the solution, and have an eye for detail when testing. We ship high quality work every time.

When you join, you’ll spend time in different parts of our business to get to know how we work end to end (eg. with our creative team, buying and merchandising, logistics, account management) and meet some of our customers.

What you'll need

• 3-5 years of experience in Product Design roles in SaaS or retail software. We’re not looking for seniority, but will help you get there in this role.
• You have three or four projects that you’ve worked on completely end to end and can talk about the impact you had.
• Experience of working directly with customers and driving research.
• You’re at home with ambiguity and can collaborate with a wide range of people to go from a well-defined problem to a solution that we’ll build. Ideally, you have experience of co-building with customers.
• You know what it means to support a fast-moving team of Engineers.
• You’re experienced with tools like Figma (our design tool of choice), Miro (to collaborate and explore ideas), and Notion (writing down our thinking is a great way to refine and share it).
• You’re no stranger to using gen AI to speed up your work — synthesis, exploration, prototyping, vibe coding.
• You’re based in Dublin or, if working remotely, within a couple of hours of the GMT timezone. If you’re remote, you’re ok with some very occasional travel to collaborate with the team in person or attend important company events.

Our process is designed to be fast. Most candidates get through the entire process in less than two weeks, and we’ll give you a clear decision quickly. We don’t ask you to create any new or original work while interviewing with us.
